David Kamm

My work is an attempt to create visual and conceptual unity from elements rooted in nature, social issues, popular culture, religion, and materials, though not necessarily in that order, and not necessarily in equal measure or all at once. Although my work often includes references to weapons, it should not be seen simply as either anti or pro in messaging. However, I am deeply troubled by the rampant gun violence, including mass shootings and school shootings, that have become fixtures in our lives. As an artist, creating work that addresses difficult issues is one way to raise questions or prompt consideration of how we want to live. Beyond that, the work must speak for itself.
