Michelle Rial

My art passion has always been dimensional, expanding through my work and its mediums. With a visual communications degree I have traveled from trade show, print design, dental prosthetics, leaded stained glass, and finally into fused glass creation. My experience with scale model creation, porcelain dental production, and glass leading has brought me to glass fusing. Nature was my first inspiration. Multi-layering of fusing glass pieces, chips, and powders started my delving into the effects that can be created. Expansion into deep fiber reversal and compression techniques added variability of surface finish and more physical dimension. A complete shift came with my experimentation focusing on a more complex color depth in abstraction. Working with transparent and opaque colors I pursued unique patterns and visual color shifts. With these techniques I could expand into shifts of perspective.
