Shawna McLeod

Born and raised in rural northeast Iowa, Shawna McLeod has been creating art since early childhood, using it as a way to tell stories and shape meaningful spaces. She earned a degree in Art Education with an emphasis in painting from the University of Northern Iowa in 2011 and spent 15 years teaching middle school art. During that time, she discovered a passion for murals and the impact thoughtfully designed environments can have—especially in schools and community spaces. In 2026, with years of mural experience and strong support from her family and clients, Shawna left the classroom to pursue her work full-time through McLeod Paint & Design. Today, she creates murals that bring intention, warmth, and visual storytelling to businesses and communities. She hopes her work offers a moment of pause—and a spark of joy.

Shawna is based out of Scott County.
