Pam Ohnemus

Pam Ohnemus is originally from British Columbia Canada but has called Davenport Iowa home for over 40 years. She received her BA in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa with an emphasis in drawing and painting. She was awarded a free tuition scholarship for her last two years. She taught Art in the Davenport School system for 33 years. The natural landscape has always been a powerful focus of Pam’s work. Living in Iowa has turned Pam’s passion to prairie, depicting that landscape in paint. Macro and microenvironments fill her paintings, engaging the viewer in their detail. Even while painting tranquil scenes, she achieves active color sensations by layering color over complementary underpaintings. The tall grass prairie is an irreplaceable tapestry of plant and animal life. Pam paints dynamic compositions of Midwest prairie remnants so that the viewer can appreciate their beauty and see the need of their preservation before they are lost forever.

Pam is based out of Scott County.
