Painting reveals the fascinating ways of light: how it reveals, molds and fractures forms and colors. One of my earliest memories is of stacking colorful toys as they moved through beams of light. Now I’m exploring light for that sense of awe. After earning an MFA in painting and MA in art history at the University of Iowa, and working as a student at the University of Iowa Museum of Art, I continued in museum work for most of my career. Along the way my paintings were acquired for institutions such as the Rock Island Public Library. In 2014, I pivoted to teaching art and art history and serving as director for MidCoast Fine Arts. A highlight was when I received the 2021 Riverssance Festival of Fine Art Harley Award for outstanding support of art in the community. Recently I retired, honored with the Illinois Community College Trustees Association’s 2025-2026 Black Hawk College Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award.
